The Centre has ruled out any shortage of fertilizer in the ongoing Rabi 2021-22 season. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that on the basis of month-wise and State-wise projection given by Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Fertilizers allocates adequate quantities of fertilizers to States by issuing monthly supply plan and continuously monitors the availability.
The Minister said this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He said the State Governments are regularly advised to coordinate with manufacturers and importers of fertilizers for streamlining the supplies through the timely placement of indents for railway rakes.
Mr Tomar said that the gap between demand and production for Urea and other fertilizer is met through imports. Mr Tomar said, the import for the season is also finalised well in advance to ensure timely availability. He added that P&K Fertilizers are de-controlled in the country.
