At the end of the sixth day of Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru the Jain University continues to be in the helm winning the highest number of medals. With 16 Gold, Five Silver and three Bronze medals, it occupies the first place in the medal tally currently.
Following in second place, it is Punjab University with Nine Gold, Five Silver and 13 Bronze medals. University of Mumbai is in third place with Six each of Gold and Silver and four Bronze medals. As all the competitions in the Swimming pool came to an end yesterday, the Jain University won 14 Gold medals in this category.
Siva Sridhar was the star performer winning seven Gold and Two Silver medals in the pool. His medal haul is more than that of the previous edition’s most successful athletes Siddhant Sejwal and Sadhvi Dhuri who had won five Gold medals each.
Another event that concluded yesterday was boxing. In the Women’s competition, 26 different Universities won a medal, with eleven different universities winning Gold in the 12 weight categories.
Choudhary Ranbir Singh University boxers won two Gold medals. In the Men’s boxing event, Lovely Professional University boxers won three Gold and 11 other Universities divided the medals in 13 categories.
