Khelo India University Games: Lovely Professional University’s Sartaj Singh Tiwana bags gold in 50 m three-position competition in shooting

Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru saw some exciting shows in shooting and archery today. Lovely Professional University’s Sartaj Singh Tiwana beat Olympian Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar of Guru Nanak Dev University in the final of the 50 m three-position competition to win Gold.
 
In archery knockout rounds Lovely Professional University’s Aditya Choudhary bowed out to Charan Singh University’s Nishant. In the women’s recurve match Adamas University’s Ruma Biswas lost in the semifinals to Guru Jambheshwar University’s Bhavna.

In Fencing Guru Nanak Dev University’s Chingakham Jetlee Singh beat his teammate Shubham to strike Gold. Athletics will commence tomorrow in Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru. The Olympian and Gold medallist in the University Games earlier, Dutee Chand will be one of the key contenders during the championship.

She will be competing in the 100 and 200 m sprint. She had taken 11.49 seconds to complete the 100 m run in the previous Khelo India University Games and won a Gold medal. Another player with potential to win a medal is Priya Mohan from Jain University, Bengaluru. In Junior 400 m competition Priya holds third place in the World ranking. She holds the record of completing the 400 m race in 53.29 seconds. During Khelo India games Priya Mohan will be competing against Dutee Chand in the 200 m race.

The athletes from Mangalore University had excelled in the first edition of Khelo India Games held in Bhubaneshwar by winning 18 medals in this segment. Narendra Pratap Singh from Mangalore University holds a record of completing 5000 meters run in 18.19 seconds.
