Khelo India University Games saw some stellar performance by the budding athletes today. Shiva Sridhar the swimmer from Jain University in Bengaluru won Gold medal in the 200-metre medley event by setting the meet record of 2:05:43 minutes. Srihari Natraj from Jain University won gold in the 50-metre freestyle in a time of 23.23 seconds breaking the record set by Mihir Ambre in the first edition of the games held in Bhubaneshwar. There were 10 medals up for grabs in swimming today.
Shubham Dhyaygude from Savitribai Phule Pune University won gold in the 400-metre freestyle. Madras University won two golds in the 400-metre medley and 4X200 metres freestyle. Hosts Jain University soared to the top of the medal tally with the strength of winning four golds in Swimming events. Shivaji University won two golds, a silver and a bronze in weightlifting thereby getting the top slot in the medal table during mid-day. Sneha from Maharshi Dayanand University won gold in women's weightlifting and Juturi Koteshwar from Krishna University won gold in women's 73-kilogram weightlifting event.
In Women's volleyball event, Bharathiar University defeated by 3-0 the favorite SRM University which had won bronze in the All India Inter University championship last year. In shooting, the Punjab University, Chandigarh won Gold, Punjabi University, Patiala grabbed Silver and Saurashtra University won the Bronze medal in the team event.
