Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday evening took stock of arrangements for the Budget session of Parliament beginning on Monday. The Lok Sabha Speaker met Mr Naidu and both the Presiding Officers went over various issues for about 40 minutes. Sources said that in view of the speed of corona virus spread during the third wave, Mr  Birla suggested that Members of both the Houses may be seated at different locations by name to avoid confusion, crowding and enquiries. This was welcomed by Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu. Secretaries General of both the Houses were asked to reach out to leaders of various parties and groups in respective Houses immediately and to suggest them to draw lists of names of Members to be seated in different locations. Seats were allotted in chambers and galleries of both the Houses based on the strength of parties.

In view of the reduction in the time of sitting of both the Houses by one hour per sitting due to staggered sitting, Mr Naidu and Mr Birla took stock of the time available for different items of business. They underscored the need for cooperation from all sections of both the Houses for effective utilization of available time.

The Secretaries General of both the Houses have informed that the Parliament House Complex has been sanitized and all possible measures are being taken to contain the spread of corona virus.
Both Mr Naidu and Mr Birla were told that all MPs have been requested to take RT-PCR test 48 hours before the commencement of the Session.
Responding to a query by the Lok Sabha Speaker, it was informed by the officials that after seven days of home quarantine, no test is required to be taken as per the guidelines of the Government of India.
