The Khelo India University Games set to begin in Bengaluru from 24th of April will see participation by a few Olympians. According to a release issued by the Sports Authority of India, Tokyo Olympians Srihari Nataraj representing Swimming, Manu Bhaker in Shooting and Dutee Chand in Athletics will be competing in the Games. During the second edition of the games two new disciplines namely Yogasana and Mallakhamb have been added for the first time. This is an effort to preserve and promote the century-old sporting disciplines of the country.
The sporting event will be broadcast live on multiple channels of Doordarshan, PIB digital channels and All India Radio. The digital platforms of Khelo India and the Karnataka State Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports will also broadcast the events on their digital platforms. The games will also be available live on Sony LIV OTT platform for eight hours daily. In all, 3,871 athletes from 189 Universities from across the country will compete in 20 disciplines for 275 Gold Medals.
Bengaluru will be home to around 8,000 athletes, support staff and technical officials during the mega spectacle. Over 1,000 youths from Bengaluru will be involved as volunteers in 14 venues where different competitions will be held till 3rd of May.
