PM Modi-Johnson Summit redefined contours of India-UK relationship: EAM S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said, the Modi-Johnson Summit has redefined the contours of the India-UK relationship. In his keynote address at Policy Ex-change, London on the topic India and U.K. in the post-Covid World yesterday, Dr Jaishankar said, the roadmap agreed during the meeting will guide policymakers in an expansion of ties between the two nations. He said, the meeting also saw the launch of enhanced trade partnership committed to negotiating a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement while improving market access.
 
The External Affairs Minister said, India-UK cooperation derives from values, practices and history. He said, post-Brexit U.K. and New India are natural partners. Mr Jaishankar said, the Global Britain, the Atlantic UK, even the European one after Brexit, the City of London, the non-London UK, the diaspora one, the innovation and education UK, and of course the strategic and historical UKs have much to offer India. He said, we must consciously make history work positively for us.
 
The External Affairs Minister said, updating the traditional outlook towards our region will be helpful. He said, compulsions of international relations are also an impelling factor. Dr Jaishankar said, global repercussions of Covid strengthen the case for an upgraded relationship.
