Haryana Government to Open Training Institute for Drone Pilots

A training institute for drone pilots will be set up in Haryana to support capacity development. The institute, to be set up under the aegis of the Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Limited (DRIISHYA) is expected to cater to training needs of personnel of DRIISHYA and other organisations.

• A decision in this regard was taken during the second board of directors meeting of DRIISHYA, chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
• Haryana is the first state to create a separate corporation to hasten unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-driven governance application.
• With the help of drones, illegal encroachments can also be controlled along with detecting of expansion of areas as earlier manual surveys were conducted at regular intervals which were time-consuming, costly and required more manpower.
• The use of drones should also be ensured in urban local bodies, power, disaster management, mining, forest, traffic, town and country planning, agriculture, etc, as it would help in mapping, land records, disaster management and emergency services, development planning departments in the urban areas.

PM dedicates K K Patel Super Speciality Hospital in Bhuj, Gujarat to Nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated K. K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital in Bhuj to the nation through video conferencing.

• The hospital will make good quality healthcare accessible to people at affordable prices.
• It will ensure the best treatment for the families of soldiers and people of the trading community. 
• Ayushman Bharat Yojna and Janaushadhi Yojna, poor and middle-class families are saving crores of rupees on their treatment.  
• 200 bedded hospital has been built by Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj, Bhuj.
• This is the first charitable super speciality hospital in Kutch. Super speciality services such as Interventional Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Nephrology, Neuro Surgery, Joint Replacement and other supportive services like laboratory, radiology are provided in the hospital at an affordable cost.

Mineral Production in India

The mineral production has recorded 13.2 percent cumulative growth during April to February in the 2021-22 financial year. According to Coal Ministry, the index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of February 2022 was 4.5 percent higher as compared to February 2021.

• The production level of important minerals in February 2022 were - Coal 795 lakh tonnes, Lignite 47 larkh tonnes, Petroleum (crude) 23 lakh tonnes, Chromite 373 thousand tonnes and Gold 125 kilogram

India to host Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023

India will host the Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023. Organised by Street Child United and Save the Children India, the Street Child Cricket World Cup 2023 will welcome 22 teams from 16 countries to India next year.

• The championship in 2019 was held in London where eight teams competed, and Team India South lifted the cup after beating hosts England.
• The event will take place in September ahead of the ICC World Cup, and see street children and young people take part in a mixed-gender cricket tournament.
• Countries that will participate this year are Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Burundi, England, Hungary, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
