RRB NTPC Exam is conducted in two stages i.e. 1st stage - Prelims & 2nd stage - Mains. The Syllabus for RRB NTPC stage 1 and stage 2 are same.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 papers are objective type papers & consist of 3 sections - Mathematics (Arithmetic Ability), Reasoning & General Intelligence and General Awareness (General Science).
Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportions, Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Elementary Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics etc.
Analogies, Completion of Number and Alphabetical Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Similarities and Differences, Relationships, Analytical Reasoning, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagrams, Puzzle, Data Sufficiency, Statement- Conclusion, Statement- Courses of Action, Decision Making, Maps, Interpretation of Graphs etc.

Negative Marking: There will be negative marking
and 1/3 mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Only for candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master
Qualifying marks: The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
1. Memory Test – Aptitude Test for Measuring Memory
The candidates will have to memorize Picture-Number combinations and have to indicate the numbers on the test page.
The candidates will have to memorize structures/stations/visual patterns/visual objects and have to identify their locations in the test page.
2. Following Directions – Aptitude Test to Measure the Ability to Follow Directions
Candidates will be given a pattern of letters followed by questions about how certain directions will change in that pattern.
The answer to each question will be one of the letters in the pattern
3. Depth Perception – Aptitude Test to Measure Depth Perception.
Candidates will be given a pile of bricks on the screen with labels such as A, B, C,..
The candidate will have to count the number of bricks that are touching bricks of the pile that has a letter on it.
Note: The bricks will be of same size & shape.
4. Concentration Test – Aptitude Test to Measure Concentration.
Candidates will be tested on their ability to compare numbers i.e. to decide if they are the same or not.
If the numbers are same, the candidate has to click “Y” else “N”.
5. Perceptual Speed Test – Aptitude Test to Measure Perceptual Speed.
Candidates will be tested on their agile ability. i.e. how quickly can they see objects to match them later accurately.
Typing Skill Test (TST): 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi

Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be either:
(i ) a citizen of India, or
(ii) subject of Nepal, or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
Educational Qualifications
Note: 50% marks is not to be insisted upon in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th (+2 stage).
